An “Olympic” Hopeful…

Congratulations to Jenny Bobo who was selected, along with another candidate from New Mexico, to represent the USA in the Cecchetti International Classical Ballet Competition in Calgary, Alberta this July.  Jenny is 12 years old, a pre-professional student at The Link and has passed examinations through Grade 5 with an average rating of Highly Commended. She will be taking her Grade 6 exam this coming June and is also working on Grade 7 – advanced work and Diploma (Grade 8) in Cecchetti.      More...

Houston – California – New York and Alabama Links with Metro Detroit in Dance

        

        

        

This year’s summer dance intensive will be held Monday, August 4 – Friday, August 18, 2008 at The Link. Back by popular demand are Lauren Anderson and Caleb Mitchell, former Houston Ballet dancers. In addition, Steve Rooks, former principal dancer – Martha Graham and Anna Williams, former dancer, Alabama Ballet, and our own beloved Judy Milner, former dancer with Alvin Ailey, will be joining us.  Classes will be taught in Ballet, Modern, Pointe and character. We are excited and blessed to have such a prestigious summer faculty. Last year, The Link hosted the largest summer camp to date with more than 50 dancers attending from Michigan, St. Louis, Grand Rapids, Ohio and Illinois. Please mark your calendars for this very important event. Continuing to Impact Our Community In Dance…

Since our last report update in September, The Link Dancers have continued to impact our community through dance.

Ministering in churches, i.e. - Faith Lutheran Missionary Project, American House Nursing and Assisted Living Centers, Knox Presbyterian Church, Life Christian Church, Kirk-In-The Hills Presbyterian Church, Lord of the Harvest Christian Community Church, Perfecting Church and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. It has been fulfilling to be used by God to impact so many viewers with the gospel message in dance. Dance as a way to worship God can be so effective because it crosses denominational lines and delivers a message of hope, healing, deliverance, salvation and edification.

Breaking News!

The Link Dancers have just been invited to dance at the Austrian Society’s Cotillion Ball in 2009 and The Archdiocese of Detroit’s National Women’s Conference in October, 2008.  Stay tuned as we continue to criss-cross the metropolitan Detroit area in dance!

Awards Banquet

Tickets for our Awards Banquet are now on sale. Join us on Sunday, May 18th, 2008 at 2:00pm promises to be an event filled with fun, food, fellowship, dancing “among the stars” and awards.  There are four Link Achievement awards being presented for Leadership, Intensity, Nutty and Kindness, as well as special recognition and participation.  Tickets are $10.00 for 13 and up and $7.00 for ages 12 and under.  Children 2 and under will be admitted free.
